June 2011: Finally!

Weather finally gave us all a break and the garden got some much needed attention. The beans and corn were planted last week. Fencing for the cucumbers and tomatoes, boards and string for the beans, soaker hoses laid out, cucumbers and tomatoes starts planted...all done at the work party June 5. It's a great start but we have lots to do still. Let's hope this weather sticks with us for a bit and we can get it all done!

SUNSHINE!

A few days of sunshine have done the garden good! I headed up this morning to get a few things done and managed to remember the camera before leaving the house.

Couldn't ask for a better day to be gardening.

Happy Corn

Happy Tomatoes

Happy Peppers

The onions are looking fantastic! And the kids will all soon be running around the garden eating those fresh carrots.

May 14th Work Party

There was another work party on Friday as Amy said in her email...
Thanks to all who came on Friday! We worked really hard and got all the tomato fencing up (minus 1/2 row) and all the tomatoes planted. We fit 28 per row that gives us 168 tomato plants if they all survive! Hope you are all ready for more tomatoes to can!
We also got the basil row planted – 30 plants! A few cucumbers in that needed to come out of their pots and the cantaloupes planted.

We have a couple more busy work days ahead of us but the garden is coming along quite nicely!

Tomato starts that were pulled from the greenhouse and planted.

The basil is looking incredible!

Quick shot of the potato plants, we've already started to cover some of them over.

North half of the garden...half of the tomato rows.

Taken from the barn, looking back towards the garden.

Yukons

Onions are looking fantastic!

One-half of five rows of corn planted.

Transplanted garlic looks to be doing just fine.

Future Blueberries

Part of the work crew planting the cabbage patch.

Lettuce/greens are doing well.

Follow the leader!

The leader, apparently, stopped a bit too quick.

Can't post about a work day without a picture of Chris on the tractor.

My favorite picture of the day!
